The studio audience, or at least the canned applause, sounds as the camera opens up to the sound of catchy pop music. A quick title graphic with ‘PRD GOOD TV’ flashes with the characters for Meiko and Junko written underneath. When the graphic fades, the feed zooms in to the co-founder of Team PRD: May, who stands attired in something one would find in any given J-Pop PV. May waves to the camera right before flashing a winning smile. For the first time in her wrestling career, May addresses the viewers in her native tongue, though it is, helpfully, subtitled for the foreign fans.
“A, domo! Welcome to the first episode of PRD Good Television! As some of you know, June and I recently had a little bit of a scandal on our hands. Thankfully we’ve started to move past it but we could not have done it without the love and support from each and every one of you PRD Faithful Fans out there! So to you, from June and myself, we say thank you very much!”
“As of now, PRD is officially back in action. While our scandal and the closing of our second home, GPW, happened close together like some kind of omen, we decided that the best thing to do was to regain our footing in our home country. To give something back to the men and women that helped us get to where we are today. And because of that support, we are able to focus on our careers now more than ever. Great things are happening! Like this little internet show of ours! But you don’t want to hear about that!”
“PRD is rarely parted, and for good reason. June and I are best friends and we know each other better than most people know themselves. When June and I heard about Seishin – our new company – having a singles tournament, she did not want to enter because PRD is a TEAM first. But I decided that it was time for everyone to realize that while PRD together is PRD Strong, that when we are separated we are not weak.”
“With that in mind we signed up. I am here to show people that we were not known to be Undefeated in the Ring because of lack of ability. To show that we can be cute and strong too. I may not be used to fighting alone, but that won’t hold me back. I’m cute, yes, but I’m stronger than I am cuter, and soon enough Miss E.N.I.G.M.A. will understand that very well. I train with the fastest person I know so I am prepared for you; but are you prepared to have a taste of my homemade Mentaiko? Well, I think I’ll answer that…after a quick word from our sponsor!”
And true to form, the cheery music starts up again as the camera zooms out. A second shot of the logo graphic plays as it fades to break.
