Merlot Ayano had grown accustomed to losing. Upon returning to professional wrestling, she joined another Japanese promotion called Glory For Puroresu. Similar to Seishin, Glory’s goal was to restore honor to Japanese wrestling, or so it claimed. Merlot instantly realized that the company was corrupted; it was controlled greedy owner, who didn’t seem to care about wrestling at all.
In Glory, Merlot placed in a Trio with two of her cousins, Nightshade and Beer Beer. Initially, she had been excited, however, that excitement waned quickly. Glory marketed the Ayanos horribly and depicted them as jokes. The Trio began to lose match after match after match.Merlot fought hard to change people’s perceptions―but, it was to no avail.
Her recent loss to Shura stung. No, it did more than sting―they cut deep. It wasn’t the fact that Shura made Merlot submit, it was the fact that during the matches build up, she was once again made out to be a joke. In Shura’s press conference videos, she alluded to Merlot being a model or an AV Idol. Merlot hated being naked, even in front of her room mate/lover interest; she didn’t even have the aptitude for those two professions. Furthermore, Shura alluded to her being new to wrestling and being inexperienced. Two more fallacies. Fuck the fact that Merlot had been around wrestling since she was a fetus. Fuck the fact that Merlot had wrestled professionally for a nice portion of her young and adult life.
The loss did not bother Merlot, it was the fact that Seishin clung to Shura’s blatant lies that hurt her. Tomoko Takahashi had been allowed to slander her on TV; and, she knew nothing would be done about it. It would just be covered it and ignored.
In her eyes, Seishin was starting to become just like Glory For Puroresu, a place where truth and actual skill in the ring didn’t matter.
Merlot laid on her locker room bench; on top of her face was a white towel. The towel was intended to wipe away her sweat, instead, it hid bitter tears. Merlot wiped her face before she tossed the towel on the other side of the room. She slowly sat up and tousled her hair a bit.
“I’m not a fucking joke,” she said out loud. “I wanted to play nice. I wanted to be honorable and respectful with everyone. However, it appears that option is out of the window. It looks like respect only gets taken advantage of.” Merlot used her arms to push herself off of the bench.
Once she made it to her feet, she paced around a bit. “I know what must be done. Very little respect will be shown in these next couple of matches. People need to realize who they are dealing with. Whisky-chan is the most well-known Ayano; she became well known by violence.
“Each Ayano has a violent side―I will let mine out. And, Merlot will not feel bad about it, not one bit. Seishin has brought this upon itself.”
