Merlot Ayano sat on the apron of a rough, grimy looking ring. She was drenched in sweat―the effects of an intense training session. She used a nearby towel to wipe her face before she gazed directly into the camera.
“Professional Wrestling―it is such a polarizing sport. Some people hate it; others, they love it.
“Now, as I stated before, Merlot hates what wrestling has become. It has become such an fickle and arbitrary industry. And, do you know who is to blame for this?
“People like Shura!”
Merlot shook her head and rolled her eyes in loathing. “I’ve have known about Shura-chan for years. You’ve always been depicted as this great woman of honor and pride; this is one of the main reasons why I wanted to face you in the ring. However, based upon the bullshit you’ve spewed from your mouth, everything about you is a facade.” She paused momentarily. “Respect is something that is earned, and should be mutually given. Merlot showed you respect and reverence in her first video. In return, you attempted to disrespect me.”
Merlot let out a sigh of frustration. “I am not a big-breasted AV Idol, Shura. I am not some naive Young Girl who does not know what she is doing. And I am no bumbling drunk.
“I am a warrior!”
She took a moment to breathe. “Although I’ve worked sporadically over the past fifteen months, this year marks six years in the Business for me. If you researched, perhaps you would have discovered that fact. Instead, you seem content following your jaded and flawed perceptions.
“You are why I hate the Business. Yes, I’ve said it again!
“I’ve shed blood in the ring, I’ve suffered debilitating injuries in that ring, precious chunks of my life-span have been shaved off in the ring. And yet, the only thing Japanese promotions and veterans like you do is shit upon all my hard work.
“Shura, you disrespected me. But, what you also did, Shura, was alienate people like me―hard working Joshi’s who continue to keep this industry thriving and viable.”
Merlot paused for a moment; various thoughts raced through her head. Suddenly, a smirk appeared on her lips.
“Challenging to you a match was the grandest idea that Merlot has ever had. At first, I just wanted a little taste of the passion I thought had waned. Now? Well now, all I want to do is blister you in the ring. Our match at Seishin One will set the standard for intensity and physicality in this company. And at the conclusion of that twenty minute war, Merlot will have her hand raised in victory.”
She hopped off the ring apron and landed on her feet.
“You’re not a woman of honor, Shura―you’re a woman of ignorance. That very ignorance is going to lead to your downfall.” She smiled. “You should really chose your words more carefully, Shura―you might just ignite and provoke the wrong warrior.
“Foolish relic!”
