The Seishin cameras opened inside the famous Korakuen Hall. Just over two thousand wrestling fans, Japanese and gaijin alike, waited for the sixth edition of We are Seishin, the final Seishin show of 2015, to begin. One of the cameras panned across the colourful banners hanging from the hall’s balconies, catching banners that read such slogans as ‘Junko was screwed!’ ‘Congratulations Ayano Merlot!’ and ‘Saint Saito is the Queenmaker of Seishin!’.
Clearly an impact was made in the closing moments of Destiny: Seishin Rising.
Keiji Mikami: “Good evening everyone, and welcome to the sixth edition of We are Seishin, here at the Korakuen Hall here at the Tokyo Dome City in Tokyo! I’m Mikami Keiji, here to with my broadcast partner Takahashi Tomoko!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Mikami-san. I’ve been taking a look at the banners that hang high above us, and I can tell that what happened at Destiny: Seishin Rising has been on everybody’s minds!”
Keiji Mikami: “Indeed! If those of you watching at home have missed the incredible event, the Saito Clan – headed by veteran joshi Saito Sumie – made arrangements with our general manager Inoue Mariko to add her niece Saint Saito to the match as special guest referee.”
Tomoko Takahashi: “But what happened in the closing moments of the match is what has our fans talking, for Saint Saito – the special guest referee – refused to count Junko’s pin attempt, and drove the final nail in that silly little idol’s coffin by hitting her with the Saito Smash before dragging Ayano Merlot on top of her and then declaring her out first ever Champion of Seishin.”
Keiji Mikami: “It makes you wonder if Junko would be the champion right now if Saito wasn’t involved in the match, doesn’t it? And when you tell it like that, Takahashi-san, I cannot help but be reminded of Saito Sumie’s words on that night. ‘If you can’t be the queen, be the queenmaker,’ and Saito did just that. But because of this turn of events, Inoue Mariko has made a statement addressing the matter, and we shall be releasing that statement tonight!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Speaking of statements, Mikami-san, word has come that Shizuka Kai, as well as Hana Park, have both failed to show up here at Korakuen Hall, and so unfortunately for our fans – and very fortunate for me – Inoue Mariko has decided to cancel this match-up between that silly girl and the Korean model! But I’ve already wasted enough breath on those two. Let’s get to the wrestling!”
Masami Ishikawa: “The following match is singles match, and is scheduled for one fall with a twenty minute time limit!”
The lights go down to a white flashing strobe effect as “Music is my Life” begins with its slow beat. Candi comes out a little too early for her cue with the high beat but it doesn't seem to bother her as she walks with a bit of a strut down the entry way smiling and waving to the fans. She keeps this up to the ring where she makes her way up the steps and under the middle rope and steps around inside the ring throwing out some more waves to the crowd.
Keiji Mikami: “There we see the…rather special Candi coming down to the ring first, Takahashi-san.”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Yeah…’special’ is right. This little gaijin twit has more than a screw loose, I say.”
Icon For Hire’s ‘Off With Her Head’ begins to rock the arena, and Samantha Tolson steps out onto the entranceway, a smile on her face as the crowd begins to cheer. She bounces down the aisle, slapping fives with the fans reaching across the barrier, then does the same in a big circle around the ring. As she reaches the opening to the entryway, she hops up onto the apron and slingshots herself into the ring with the aid of the top rope, raising her hands high to the crowd.
Keiji Mikami: “And next comes Samantha Tolson from the United States, who is making her debut here with us at Seishin.”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Oh great! Another pretty little gaijin, be still my beating heart!”
As the two commentators banter, ring announcer Masami Ishikawa prepares to announce both of these women.
Masami Ishikawa: “Ladies and gentlemen…introducing first in the red corner, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and weighing in at 132 pounds... Candi!”
Candi hopped around excitedly as pink and white streamers were tossed into the ring, and she picked some of them up as the ring crew worked to clear the ring of the coloured paper, and she fixed them to her hair.
Masami Ishikawa: “And her opponent in the blue corner, from Jefferson City, Missouri and weighing in at 158lbs… Samantha Tolson!”
Samantha clapped her hands in approval as navy blue and gold streamers entered the ring. Candi grabbed a couple of those and fixed them to the other side of her hair as the ring crew once again clear the ring. Masami climbs out through the ropes and both competitors approach the referee who took position in the centre. He asked if both competitors were ready to begin, and then he called for the ring with their permission.
Samantha quickly turned the match to her own terms when she suddenly rushed Candy and pulled her into the DDT position. With the blonde woman’s head trapped in her opponent’s arm, she struggled to free herself as Samantha planted stiff knees into her midsection. After a while, she released Candi and pulled her up over her shoulders and then tossed her onto the mat with the fireman’s carry, followed by a sleeper hold when she did not release her.
Keiji Mikami: “Samantha Tolson coming in strong in this match so far. That was an impressive technical display from the woman with whom no gimmicks are needed!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Now the irony of that statement just makes me laugh.”
Keiji Mikami: “What do you mean?”
Tomoko Takahashi: “’No Gimmicks Needed?’ That very statement alone is a gimmick in itself!”
Samantha kept the sleeper hold locked in tightly, wrenching on Candi’s neck hard while on occasion driving her knees into her opponent’s back. The referee dropped to his knees to check on Candi, who for the moment did not look good. Samantha wrenched the Canadian woman’s neck again, but Candi somehow managed to roll herself onto her knees and drive her elbow into the American’s chest. She did it once, and then twice, and a third time as both women rose from the mat and the fourth forced Samantha to release her, thus giving Candi the opening she needed to bring her opponent down onto the mat with a drop toe hold.
Keiji Mikami: “And now the pace of the match is on Candi’s terms!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Merciful Buddha… What is that idiot doing, now?!”
“I’m a wrestly-er!” exclaimed Candi as she hopped around the ring excitedly, clapping her hands and celebrating as if she had performed the most amazing display of athleticism in the history of puroresu. “I’m a wrestly-er!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “She’s a ‘wrestly-er,’ apparently… Can’t we ship her back to the funny farm, or something? I’m sure she’d love it if we stuffed her in a little box and mailed her there.”
As Candi was celebrating, Samantha Tolson was on one knee, staring at her opponent as if she had grown a second head and fairy wings, but as Candi turned around Samantha took action, rushing her once more and crushing her with a stiff lariat. As soon as Candi hit the mat, Samantha took the cover and the referee began his three count.
But Candi managed to kick out of it with a cry of “I’m a wrestly-er…”
Samantha rose and stomped onto her opponent’s chest for several seconds before she turned and climbed the ring ropes. As soon as she was at the top, the American girl leapt in the air, backflipping, and Candi managed to roll away just as Samantha’s moonsault was about to land, and the American hit nothing but mat.
Keiji Mikami: “Impressive moonsault from Samantha Tolson, but sadly she missed the mark.”
Tomoko Takahashi: “You can be as impressive as you can be, Mikami-san, but a missed aerial move is still a missed aerial move, no matter how pretty it is!”
Masami Ishikawa: “Five minutes have elapsed!”
Samantha rose to her feet, clutching her chest and trying to catch her breath as Candi ran for the ropes. She rebounded and came back, and hit Samantha with the hurricanrana just as she turned around to face her. As Samantha was thrown to the mat, Candi quickly moved in and grabbed one of her opponent’s legs, locking in an ankle lock…or rather, her version of the ankle lock.
Keiji Mikami: “Is she…hugging her opponent’s leg?”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Who knows? I have long since given up trying to figure out Candi’s sense of logic. If she even has one, that is.”
Indeed, Candi was for lack of a better term hugging Samantha’s leg, her arms wrapped tightly around the ankle as she locked in the bodyscissors with her legs. The referee dropped to his knees and asked if Samantha wanted to submit. Samantha shook her head wildly but the pain on her face was clear. She tried to crawl over to the ropes to break the hold, easier said than done when one had a 132lb woman literally hugging their leg into submission, and she cried out in pain as Candi tightened her hold on the young woman’s ankle.
Keiji Mikami: “Candi has that…ankle lock? Whatever it is she has it locked in tightly! Will we see our debuting talent tapping out in her first match?!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Whatever happens let it happen quickly. The more I see that little Barbie doll Candi the more I want to retch. It’s all going on your nice suit if I do, Mikami-san!”
Candi was hugging Samantha’s leg for all it was worth as her opponent still tried to crawl over to the ropes, but eventually she managed it. As soon as Samantha’s hand grasped the rope the referee ordered that Candi release her. Candi did so, but it was clear that she was being pouty about it...mere seconds before she suddenly pulled the referee into a quick hug.
Keiji Mikami: “Looks like Candi didn’t like that decision for a moment, there.”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Buddha please end this match… I beg you!”
Samantha gingerly rose to her feet and hobbled around, testing her weight on the ankle that was being hugged like an overexcited child with a puppy. After Candi released the protesting referee from her hug, she turned and went for Samantha, landing blow after blow to the back of her head.
Masami Ishikawa: “Ten minutes have elapsed!”
After a moment, Samantha managed to duck under and lift Candi over her shoulders and spilling her out over the ropes. She then punched her opponent in the side of her head, knocking her off of the ring before Samantha made for the other side, moving as quickly as her bad ankle would allow. She hit the ropes and semi-ran back to Candi before leaping in the air and diving over the ropes, landing on Candi and bringing them both down to the floor. The referee began the twenty count.
Slowly, Samantha recovered herself enough to pull Candi onto her feet and then into the ringpost. Candi hit the steel hard, and pain was etched on her face, but her opponent was not done yet.
Samantha yelled out a war cry and shot a foot toward the Canadian woman with an overhead kick, but whether it was sheer instinct or sheer luck, Candi ducked down at the last second, and instead of the other woman’s face Samantha’s ankle collided with the steel of the ringpost, and the American woman fell to the floor, clutching her ankle as Candi moved to her side.
Keiji Mikami: “Did you see the impact that kick made with the steel ringpost, Takahashi-san!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “I don’t see how she can stand up and climb in the ring before the referee counts her out!”
Candi checked to see if her opponent was alright, but in the final few seconds of the referee’s twenty count, a lightbulb suddenly switched on in her head, and she realised that she was still in the match and so she quickly slid into the ring through the ropes before the referee counted her out, leaving Samantha alone on the floor.
Masami Ishikawa: “Here is your winner by count out…Candi!”
The referee called for the bell and a group of Young Girls attended the injured Samantha, ice packs in hand. Candi jumped around wildly in celebration as her music filled Korakuen Hall.
Keiji Mikami: “And there we have it! Candi is our first winner for the night. It’s too bad for Samantha Tolson, however…to make her debut and not only lose but lose by count out.”
Tomoko Takahashi: “Serves her right, I say. Anyway, who do we have next?”
Keiji Mikami: “Next we have the singles match between Tatyana Yvette and one half of the Wonders of Seishin Champions, Tammy Tits!”
Tomoko Takahashi: “…Alright, somebody hand me a tanto! I’m going to commit seppuku here in front of two thousand people!”
