Yesterday, Glory For Puroresu resumed operations with its Revival event. It was caped for by Date Sakuraba vs. Ricky Valero for the GFP Openweight Championship, the highest prize in the company. Let me tell you, it was an awesome match. However, I’d like to focus on the semi-main event of the evening: OOKAMI no CHI vs. Merlot Ayano vs. Hunter Werth for the GFP Junior Championship.
The GFP Junior Championship dates back to the early 1980’s, and is one of the company’s most prestigious belts. However, a bit of that prestige has been tarnished by the last two owners. The first is a man named Levi Chambers. While no one can discredit the man’s skills, his attitude was less than favorable. Many believe that he brought shame and disgrace upon the company and the belt itself.
Hunter Werth was the last champion; he defeated Chambers months ago, however, was never able to defend it. Werth is a great talent for Hard Knox Wrestling over in the U.S. However, he received a bad break, due to not being able to defend.
All that played into the match last night. GFP and Japan as a whole were eager for a person of Japanese descent to grab a hold of that belt and uplift the company―that person was Merlot Ayano.
OOKAMI looks to capitalize on the champion as she goes climbing up the corner for a high risk maneuver, but before she could leap, Merlot came hoping up the apron shaking the rope causing OOKAMI to fall down on to the ropes, and with one swift kick by Merlot…. OOKAMI went tumbling down to the outside. Getting inside the ring, Merlot screams out to the fans at the awaken champion as he gets up to his hands and knees. Merlot comes running towards him and BAM! THE SORROW BRINGER! She then quickly goes to cover for the three count!
In a press conference hours beforehand, Merlot told the world that she was going to win and bring prestige back to the belt. Well, now she has won. Will she succeed in her goal?
Time will tell.

The three opponents stand in the ring eyeing one another as the bell rings. Merlot has a smile on her face as she points to either of her opposing opponents and points to her head as though she is telling them that she has their number. Hunter steps forward as he points to himself in question before laughing slightly. He even goes to look at OOKAMI for reassurance of what he was hearing but, before OOKAMI could give a nod or any kind of response Merlot comes charging towards him with hard clothesline knocking the champion down as she then turns her attention to OOKAMI who she greets in kind with a spinning kick to her midsection. She then capitalizes on her momentum and grabs OOKAMI’s arm and swings her to the opposite side of the ring. When the larger female come springing back, she is met with a leaping DDT from Merlot. ...
